For the month of June, Dixon Mitchell will be donating our Friday lunch budget to two more charities we support; Union Gospel Mission who offer support for low-income families, like meals, emergency shelter and housing and Covenant House, who are committed to helping Vancouver’s homeless and at-risk street youth. Both charities will each receive half of our June Friday lunch budget. Donations made during Spring will also be matched by each charity.
As a company we are aware of the impacts caused during this pandemic, along with lack of food security, domestic violence has also increased. Whilst people are encouraged to stay at home during this time, many may feel isolated, and home shouldn't be an unsafe place. Dixon Mitchell have donated to Battered Women’s Support Services. BWSS provides education, advocacy, and support services to assist all women in its aim to work towards the elimination of violence, promoting equality for all women.
As we continue to navigate through the unique challenges posed by COVID-19, we’d like to share an update on how we’re responding. Since this began, we’ve continuously prioritized the safety, health and financial wellbeing of our clients and employees. We also understand the importance of supporting those affected by COVID-19, such a local businesses that have been forced to close their physical doors until it’s safe to re-open.
With a long weekend approaching Dixon Mitchell is providing all staff with $100 to spend at their local takeout eateries. It is our way of helping to support local restaurants whilst also saying thank you to our team for their continued support during this unsettling time.
In this time of need and uncertainty and heightened emotions, we understand the importance of caring for our clients, our employees and the community and we hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe. We also encourage you to look out for those that may be at risk.
We at Dixon Mitchell are adopting a growth mindset over a fearful one whilst we navigate our way through these complex times, keeping everyone’s safety and wellbeing in mind. As a team we normally sit down each Friday to enjoy lunch with one another, we understand that the cost of this can be put towards greater use. Dixon Mitchell will be donating the money normally spent on this to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank to support them during this unprecedented time.
Let’s continue to take care of each other.
