I was born in Leeds, England, to very strict hard-working parents. My parents worked over 40-hour weeks and often travelled abroad. They made the decision to send my brother and I to boarding school full time at the age of four. At the age of eleven I gave up my stiff uniform for a surfboard and flip flops when my father moved the family to California. It was a culture shock and difficult for me to adapt to the SoCal lifestyle, I could not understand why people would wear jean shorts to work?! For a short year, my brother and I were home schooled and spent our spare time climbing palm trees and playing at the local beaches. My father finished his contract in California and moved the family to Vancouver, BC. I will never forget my first day at a public school in sunny Tsawwassen, students and teachers were wearing Pajamas. I remember tugging my dad’s hand and saying, “I think we should go back to England now, people are weird here”.
I graduated South Delta Secondary and moved into an apartment in downtown Vancouver. I worked full time in the city within administrative positions while attending two part-time post-secondary schools. In four years, I graduated with a degree in Office Administration as well as a Bookkeeping certificate. I started working at Dixon Mitchell Investment Counsel in 2014, as ‘Office Receptionist and Administrative Assistant’. Through the years, Dixon Mitchell has become my second family, I have worked my way up the ladder from ‘Receptionist’ to ‘Associate’ and now ‘Office Manager’. I am truly thankful for the amazing team and work experience I have developed throughout my years at Dixon Mitchell, I could not imagine a better firm to work for.
In 2015 I married my husband David, we purchased our first home together in West Vancouver, where we live with our two children. In my spare time I enjoy skiing in Whistler and vacationing with my family at our summer home in Lake Country.
